Montgomery of Santa Rosa freshman Hanne Thomsen finished in 17:38 on the 5-kilometer layout at Woodward Park in Fresno to claim the California state Division 3 girls title. Hanne held off defending champion Riley Chamberlain who was the last freshman to win the Division 3 title back in 2018.
