Hanne Thomsen, a sophomore at Montgomery High in Santa Rosa, repeated as Division 3 girls winner at the CIF State Cross Country Championships at Woodward Park in Fresno. Thomsen covered the 5-kilometer layout in 17:12.8 to help Montgomery finish seventh overall with 253 points. Thomsen became the first back-to-back Division 3 state champion from the North Coast Section since Carrie Verdon from Campolindo in 2010-11 and qualified to compete Dec. 3 at Nike Cross Nationals at Glendoveer Golf Course in Oregon.
